Deep in the heart of West Texas, a special tradition has emerged in the small railroad town of Valentine, TX — Valentine's in Valentine. This tiny town with an estimated population of just 71 residents transforms once a year. On Valentine's Day, Valentine, TX, welcomes over 1,000 visitors from near and far for a memorable celebration of Texas music, regional food, boot scootin', and a larger sense of community.
The V-day event has garnered a reputation for being unique, exclusive, and rare. Hard to get to. Certainly memorable. Many people describe it as a combination of Luckenbach, Gruene Hall, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Old Mexico. You can even see old Mexico off in the distance. ;-). Yet, Valentine maintains its’ own distinct character, offering a throwback to a time when borders and boundaries were more suggestions than points on a map.
The festival tends to feature legendary Texas headliners, local musicians, and other talented artists from across genres. The event has hosted renowned performers such as Jerry Jeff Walker, Joe Ely, Little Joe y Familia, Junior Brown, Jimmie Vaughan, Shane Smith, and the Saints, among many others.
So, mark your calendars and start making plans to head to Valentine each February. It's part journey, part destination. Doesn't make sense. Yet it makes all the sense in the world. And that's the way we like it. Hope to see y'all out here -- smack dab in the middle of Far West Texas.
